Introduction

After moving to Queen Anne a month ago, I’ve been wanting to visit one of the local farmer’s markets but haven’t had the time yet. The Fremont Sunday Market was open today, and I decided to visit. I went to get something like locally-produced eggs or blueberries, but ended up finding a bunch of dope clothes, and some other stuff. Here’s what I got:

The Haul

FooD

I first had some full vegan momocha from Kathmandu MoMoCha: an all handmade spinach wrap and stuffing with local grown seasonal vegetables, green onion, Himalayan spices, and herbs. It had a similar flavor to my mom’s rasam and absolutely hit the spot. After, I had some vegan peanut butter chip cookies, which again, absolutely hit the spot.

Naomi Amber Dawn Art

All of her art is printed onto upcycled tees. I got two t-shirts and one hoodie, and I absolutely love them already. You can find her website here: https://www.naomiamberdawn.com/. The first design is a perfectly-fitting shirt with a dreamy, moonlit Seattle design.

This one immediately reminded me of Anacortes, and actually made me painfully nostalgic, reminiscent, and deeply mournful of lost times; it’s one of those things that would make you sad so you stash it away in a box. So, I did the opposite of what I would have done and got it. It’s a looser fit, but I love the artwork and the magnitude of how it makes me feel.

This is probably my favorite piece of clothing from this haul: it fits perfectly, the sleeves are two different but complementary colors, and the design beautifully ties it all together. It might just be my favorite hoodie now.

Native Fashion Company

Made in Ecuador and sold by a couple sellers at a booth - who also sell ponchos, blankets, and other clothes made of alpaca wool with native central american designs. This hoodie is just cotton, but I loved the design, and I don’t have much red in my wardrobe either. It also goes along well with my mask, which I’ve had for a while before this.

Lost Drip NW

Got this nice vintage-ish UW hoodie from the indoor flea market area from some merchants called Lost Drip NW.

Other random merchants

The following two pieces were from some random, unnamed merchants. The first is a comfy, loose sweatshirt with a moon on it.

This ~Christian Dior~ jacket fit perfectly and I loved the color scheme.

Other

I got some soap from Lunaraya; I don’t remember what’s in it, but it’s citrusy, smells kind of like earl grey, with like pine needles or something. I also got some art from TreksALot, which shows this giant fantastical beast resting on top of a hill in a coast town in autumn. I chatted with him about how he makes the art and his inspirations - which come from animations like Ghibli movies. He recommended watching Song of the Sea, which he found to be the most beautiful animated film and a huge inspiration. He loves to travel a bunch, hence the name. The piece that I bought was specifically inspired by his trip to Latvia.

Overall, it was a really nice time, and I’m looking forward to checking out the other markets around the area which open up on different weekdays.
